Building a community for all Africans. Strengthening Our Culture, Building Our Community!
About ACCT
The African Communities Council of Tasmania (ACCT) was established in 2009. It was formed to be the peak body representing all African communities and organisations in Tasmania. To achieve this outcome, the ACCT shall lobby all levels of government and service providers in the areas of welfare, education, healthcare, and advocacy for underrepresented communities. Through strategic partnerships with local organisations and government agencies, ACCT aims to address systemic issues such as racism, lack of access to quality education, and inadequate community services.
Vision and Mission
Our vision is to be the leading catalyst for positive socio-economic change among African Australians in Tasmania, providing reliable information, strong advocacy, and a trusted hub that empowers individuals and communities to thrive.
Our mission is to strengthen relationships between African Australians and the wider Australian community by promoting cultural exchange, advocating for inclusive policies, and engaging all levels of government. We work to support better settlement outcomes and empower individuals through improved access to education, housing, employment, and healthcare
